Our People and Environment

Presence of IT believes in the excellence of our people and is committed to a safe and healthy working environment, where all are treated fairly. As an organisation we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance and minimising impact on the surrounding environment.

Our People

Presence of IT is committed to employing the best candidates in the marketplace. We actively seek to employ our people based on an ethos of fair workplace practises for all in our recruitment, development and retention processes and strategies and this has resulted in a highly skilled yet diverse workforce.

We have a workforce of over 700 staff from across the world, and strong representation of women in both the consulting teams and senior management. We fully comply with all employment legislation in the countries in which we operate. Our employee base represents a broad spread of nationalities, which means that our employees offer a variety of cultural perspectives to our organisation.

As Presence of IT prides itself on the “Excellence of our People” we continually invest in the recruitment and ongoing development of high performing individuals. We target formal SAP/Oracle Certification training and specialist conferences for our consultants in their technical competencies, and run a number of internal training courses including Consulting Skills, Presentation Skills, Facilitation Skills and Writing Skills.

Workplace Health and Safety

Presence of IT is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, authorised visitors and anyone else coming into our workplace. Measures have been put in place to remove or minimise the risks to the health, safety and welfare of employees. We are committed to ensuring we comply with all State Occupational Health & Safety Acts 2004 and apply best practice to all our Health and Safety processes.

We request the co-operation of all employees, clients and visitors. We encourage suggestions and actively seek to consult both formally and informally with employees in realising our health and safety objectives to create a safe working environment with a zero accident rate.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Presence of IT is committed to providing a workplace that is free from all forms of discrimination, vilification and harassment. Recruitment and promotion practices used by Presence of IT follow the relevant legislation including the Equal Employment Opportunity (Commonwealth Authorities) Act 1987 and the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act (2010) to ensure that everyone has a fair chance at work and that no unfair barriers to employment, skills acquisition, working conditions, development and advancement exist.

Our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy promotes fair and non discriminatory behaviour within the workplace to ensure all employees and contractors are treated fairly. Presence of IT considers that any form of harassment (including bullying, racial and sexual harassment) is an unacceptable form of behaviour, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We insist that our employees and contractors have the right to work in an environment which is free from harassment.

Environment

Concern for the environment is integral to the overall objectives and operating principles of Presence of IT. As an organisation we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance and minimising impact on the surrounding environment.

As part of this policy we aim to:
  • Comply with and wherever possible exceed all statutory requirements.
  • Adopt best available practice and seek to continually improve environmental performance by implementing sustainable and environmentally sound business practices.
  • Minimise the environmental impact by reducing, reusing and recycling waste seeking to ensure our environmental ‘footprint’ is managed.
  • Promote efficient use of energy through energy monitoring (audits) and use of best technology practice, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency, and giving preference to renewable over non-renewable energy sources when feasible.
  • Raise employee awareness of the impact their activities have on the environment and encourage employee involvement in identifying areas for improvement.
  • Encourage environmental awareness with our employees whilst fostering a commitment to organisational and personal ownership of this environmental policy.
  • Identify any environmental risks and ensure these risks are managed effectively and economically.

CitySwitch Green Office Signatory

CitySwitch Green Office is a national tenant energy efficiency program run in partnership between the cities of Sydney, North Sydney, Parramatta, Willoughby, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth along with state government agencies, the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage and Sustainability Victoria. With a geographical reach representing approximately 70 per cent of Australia’s office space, the program works with tenants to improve office energy efficiency, thereby reducing the CO2 emissions that contribute to global warming. One of the main reasons for choosing this way to bring about environmental action, is that tenants can influence up to 50 per cent of total energy use in office buildings. For more information about CitySwitch Green Office visit www.cityswitch.net.au

In 2009 with a NABERs office rating of 4 stars, our Melbourne office became a signatory to the City Switch Green Office program. In 2012 our NABERs rating improved to 5.5 stars. We will continue to work to improve our environmental impact and carbon footprint, working towards having each of our Australian offices committed to the CitySwitch program.
